The eta production near threshold is an important tool to extract information on the reaction mechanism and the eta-nucleon interaction as was shown with recent measurements at Uppsala. At the COSY-11 installation it is proposed to continue these investigations with higher statistics especially very close to the threshold, where the influence of the final state interaction is increasing. COSY-11 allows the full reaction reconstruction on the event by event basis close to threshold.
